Former Suns Center Jock Landale Signs With Houston Rockets
$32 Million Contract Over Four Years
Landale Finished 2023 Season with Trail Blazers
Jock Landale, a former center for the Phoenix Suns, has signed a 4-year, $32 million contract with the Houston Rockets. Landale, a 6'11" center, spent the 2023 season with the Portland Trail Blazers, where he averaged 8.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Before joining the NBA, Landale played college basketball at Saint Mary's College of California.
With the Rockets, Landale is expected to provide depth behind starting center Alperen Sengun. Landale's signing is part of a larger roster overhaul for the Rockets, who are looking to improve upon a 20-62 record from the 2023 season.
In other NBA news, the Denver Nuggets have acquired backup center Zeke Nnaji and a future second-round pick from the Rockets in exchange for Landale. Nnaji, a 6'10" center, averaged 6.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game for the Nuggets last season.
