Former Köln boss signs two-year deal
Hamburg SV have appointed Steffen Baumgart as their new head coach on a two-year deal. Baumgart, 51, left Köln at the end of last season after guiding the RheinEnergieStadion club to a seventh-place finish that earned them a place in this season's UEFA Europa Conference League.
The former defender, who won two league titles and a DFB-Pokal with Werder Bremen as a player, will take over at the Volksparkstadion with immediate effect.
He is tasked with leading HSV back to the Bundesliga after they finished fourth in the 2. Bundesliga last season, just outside the promotion places.
